Re: Boeing 777(X) news
Boeing says that the B777/777X combined production rate will be reduced to only 3 per month in 2021. That sounds almost like a death notice for the 777X... From 5 (current combined rate) to 3 is bad, but a death notice is a bit extreme... The classic 777 is running on it's last legs in production a...

Re: Airbus A330/A330neo news
"beyond 180 min" ? No more precision ? 180 min seems not so big achievement to me .. I'm not a specialist, but I believe "beyond 180 min" is the official terminology used for the general 'type approval' part of ETOPS - and then includes optional further certification limits upon...

Re: BRU Winter 2020-2021: news, new routes, airlines
I'm glad that destination is back. I don't have any figures, obviously, but I couldn't understand Brussels Airlines dropping that destination. Try flying it with A319's with sufficient frequency (which is a requirement for this route due to the business type traffic) and in the current situation th...

Re: Austrian Airlines in 2020
Why would they retire their 319-fleet (7x) and keep their 320 (28x) and 321-fleet? If demand is low, it's better to have a smaller airplane, no? Economies of scale (& to some extent the push in Austria to put climate impact higher on the agenda as a condition for saving Austrian): rather fly le...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020
we shoot ourselves in the foot by organizing unfair competition with a low cost airport a few km from Brussels (but in another region... ), you do not see that in Switzerland, or Austria. and we tolerate crazy ticket prices from lowcost airlines (which, on top, is bad for the climate .... ) Please ...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020
It seems a SN plane is en-route to ABJ. Flt SN1037. BRU-ABJ - a/c : A333 -OO-SFE Finally some cargo-flight or still another 'repatriation' flt? It is not a repatriation flight, but a cargo flight (at long last) bringing humanitarian relief equipment to ABJ and OUA. The other (repatriation) flights ...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020
I don't think anyone with a bit of common sense wants the government to throw a few hundred millions at SN without knowing the plan, possible scenarios (as things still change day by day), etc and at least a trustworthy indication that this money will either be paid back or flow back to the state in...

Not correct!!!! The message from KLM is clear, got one myself btw. Once again a copy/paste: “If your flight has been cancelled by the airline, your travel voucher is refundable after 1 year” https://www.klm.com/travel/be_en/prepare_for_travel/up_to_date/flight_update/index.htm?WT.i_vid=64238123&...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020
Let's see what happens - almost the full industry is trying to direct customers to a rebooking and/or voucher solution (some more extreme than others - like always). An increasing amount of EU governments is supporting the no/delayed refund position of their airline industry (e.g. Germany supporting...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020
YES they DO deny refunds, it’s not the process which is delayed, they simply refuse refund requests. When you click on the refund link, in manage my booking, the voucher page opens. [...] It’s not a grey zone, it’s prohibited by European law to deny refunds for cancelled flights! I was told as well...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020
They don't deny refund, but are delaying processing refund requests (which is probably a grey zone due to the circumstances) and try to pursuade to rebook to a later date by giving a value voucher in addition to the free rebooking. Seems like a straightforward attempt of reducing the short-term cash...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020
Hi. Anyone knows, why Brussels Airlines is operating a flight between Kigali and Cologne ? Thanks https://www.flightradar24.com/BEL1042/2451cb66 Repatriation I guess. There has also been a Lomé-Cologne repatriation flight - I believe for the German government (which isn't that weird as it's LHG, on...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020
The relative low liquidity % of LHG has much to do with the fact that they have, compared to the other traditional majors, by far the biggest share of the fleet owned - a strategy that draws away a lot of cash (and that's why many now say LH could raise more cash by doing sale-and-leasebacks on thei...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2019
Under the motto 'if you can't beat them, join them': SN and Aeroflot to codeshare on the SVO-BRU route (flights as from 20/01). Connections at both sides possible with through check-in of luggage etc. (so seemingly interlining beyond the SVO-BRU route) https://www.aviation24.be/airlines/aeroflot/aer...

Re: Brussels Airport (BRU) infrastructure: future
OK, a positive article for once. But indeed also plain wrong when the journalist says SN and BRU benefit from the support of the LG Group (makes me laugh) and when A.F. says that BRU has become an important hub for the LH Group and Star Alliance it makes me  Of course it's just a little detail...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2019
The remaining lease contract on SFX and uncertain future of that specific plane afterwards doesn't make a 10 million Euro investment in all new seats, galleys, lighting,... - like on the 7 'new' purchased (by LH) A333s - worth it. A pity yes in product consistency, but same issue as on the 2 remain...

Re: BRU Summer 2020: news, new routes, airlines
Do we really need all of this, knowing it knocks away the critical mass to support big and healty home based airlines with route networks beyond just the obvious routes to Malaga, Barcelona, Rome etc? Healthy home based airline? Did you miss reboot? As for Transavia, I wouldn’t underestimate them, ...
