Re: Brussels Airlines in 2024

What I don't understand with pilots is that it's the top of the social basket; they can find a job wherever they want in any other company, why go on strike? Seniority... A pilot who moves to a new airline drops at the bottom of the seniority list for the aircraft type and position they hold. SN's ...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2024

If I remember well, a part of the profit of last year was going to be paid to all employees as an extra bonus and that was not a small amount. It's not only a dividend to the shareholders You are mixing up two different things here, profit share is peanuts compared to management bonuses. Believe me...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2024

Economics are simple. You can only share from profits and not from losses.

LH can spend any Euro only once, if not in BRU others would get it.

Own A333 can expand Discover, is SN can't pitch for them.

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2024

The strike is of course bad news, and detrimental for the reputation and future of SN Still, the first to blame is the German managent. Since many years now they have desinvested in SN and given almost no chance to the airline. If you buy a company you have the moral duty to make it work. Germans a...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2024

...and the other airlines in the group fly already these destinations.

The first logical move would be rather to add new aircraft and expand frequencies and carefully add niches.

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2024

Even if UA has 7 destinations from Boston - could it be at all feasible SN flies the route even though the focus is Africa? After all they fly to JFK and Washington (seasonally) From a business prospective it's irrelevant. Within the A++ Joint Venture the partners share cost and revenues. From a ma...

They are partially part of it, not as a full member
They are a connecting Partner, even they are a budget airline.
So yes, there may be a Code sharing coming, if Air China is not stepping in.
LH likes JV's.

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2024

For the time being SN is planning with a one size fleet. Simplicity is key so they won't end up in a mess of having few planes of each size at each hub. The trend is also that smaller regional jets would be rather outsoruced, like in the US. 320NEO's there are 46 in the pipeline, plus 40 options. Bu...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2024

Discover would rather focus on leisure destinations - Namibia, Kenia, Zanzibar. LH is doing well cathcing the more developed destinations in South Africa, where all the other legacies are flying as well. But for niche destinations there is a need for critical mass to increase frequencies, so capturi...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal

By doing the simple maths, the long haul fleet would start it's renewal approx 2030.
At that time enough A350 or B789 shall bei available in the secondary market or even within the group.
New A330 Neos may not ve an option.

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal

It's all depending on the Booeing /Airbus carousel. From the remaining 9 available A333 at LH, there may be 3 pools which would be in the right spot to access them: - 3xA332 at Discover are due to replacement in 2026, however as their leases were extended and the market rates for this model are down...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal

Additional A330, unless leased from the market are depending on the deliveries of B789 and A350 fam. The planned rotation within the group is pretty clear: - additional A359 with First would create room to bring all A346 to FRA before retirement - the large tranche of new 789 to be delivered would f...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2024

Let's be reasonable , both sides! The only raison d'etre for CRL is provincial pride of the french speaking part of the country. There is neither a regional need nor a capacity contraint at the main airport. It is fair enough to say that for Rynair is a place of strong focus, as it was the first bas...

When will OO-SBD & OO-SBE be delivered? And when will there be more news about definitive plans for new aircrafts for Brussels Airlines like OO-SBF, OO-SBG, etc New airplanes would come when the free slots to be delivered in the coming years would be available. This year's slots are all planned...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2024

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2024

If a company can fly destination A and earn 5 EUR why should it fly destination B and earn only 4? Business decision are not emotional. Re: Brussels Airlines in 2024

The main reason of the CityJet wetleases going feom SN to LH is the grounding of many A320 neo with PW engines. Originally it was indeed the plan to also have cityet wetleases for SN in S24 ( they make profits ), but it was reshuffled to LH because they will have over 20 a320 grounded due to the en...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2024

Bullshit at its best. All French cities are connected to the major hubs - some of them just seasonal, as real demand from French provinces is not as big as you may assume. Furthermore LH has a JV with United.. so they share profits and cost, even pax are starting in AMS. Sabena went bankrupt because...
