How ironic. UA will be handled by swissport by the end of the month "because bag transfer will go smoother"

Re: Swissport industrial action at Brussels Airport
@inquirer, note that BRU has 2 handlers and that only one of them is on strike (swissport). If you fly an airline that is handled by Aviapartner, there might be no problem, unless the strikers block passport control or bag area.

Re: Swissport industrial action at Brussels Airport
Choice or not, it's a disgrace to hold thousands of people hostage. A minimum service should be provided. Or allow at least airlines to set up emergency procedures. In my company, you go on strike, you will have lost your job before you can say: "I'm sorry" Don't worry, there are plenty o...

Re: Swissport industrial action at Brussels Airport
@airopinion/flanker2, thanks guys (girls!) for this realistic view. Seems to me that some people have trouble seeing the difference between spotting a/c, talking about aircraft and WORKING around aircraft. Some people forget that not the people have changed, but the working conditions, such as pay, ...

I'm in loadcontrol +25years, so I know a few things and I've seen/heard a lot. and you actually defend them? wow talking about working with your eyes closed. anyway i'm glad we are served by Aviapartner, they care a little bit more about their clients and pax I do not defend them. I can understand ...

Re: Swissport industrial action at Brussels Airport
33min on full 738 !!! Get real. Ok when just bags, and only 1flt, and even than ...... well yes just bags, some 195 bags and yes only 1 such flight. does it matter? if you take at random 15 flights perhaps 1 is a "heavy" for the loaders. when i was still at flightcare loadcontrol you neve...

Re: Swissport industrial action at Brussels Airport
Well you have to see this situation the other way, high workload as in loading a B737-800 with 3 peoples is a high workload. One guy to put the bags on the belt and one guy to pass the luggage to the third guy placing the bags. I don't know if you ever did this but this can be very tiring if you ta...

Re: National Air Cargo crashed in Bagram, Afghanistan
Can somebody shed light on how you get this cargo loaded in a BCF? It's not like the nose will open like on standard B747F's. Are the cargo doors large enough? Do you need to rotate the vehicles inside the hull? What a horrific accident. RIP A 747F has a system to turn/load 20ft pllts. Most pdu (po...

Re: National Air Cargo crashed in Bagram, Afghanistan
we are talking about a (fully loaded?) 747 with the engines as good as on full power. i can't see how a pallet of cargo moving could do this. its not like it has the space to move 5m from the left to the right. any 747 pilots here? Not a pilot, but quite familiar with weight and balance. It's not a...

Re: Jetairfly 767 fuel dump
As said in the article, standard procedure in these situations. No big deal, happens all the time. Just bad luck for pax and crew. Luckily, on this occasion, a spare plane was available and delay was rdeuced to a minimum.

Re: Young boy takes flight from BRU to Malaga without any pa
I don't want to minimize security/safety, but one needs to realize it needs to we workable and commercially intresting as well. The alternative is a very tight security and that includes : everybody shows up at the airport std -04h00 and everybody needs to be at the gate std -01h00. On top of that n...

Re: 4 EZY pax ordered off overweight plane
I don't get this. Say the "normal" :? load is 55/45%. So 50 excess males @18kg above female = 900kg. LPL-GVA is say 350NM. Can't cope with this unexpected 900kg ??? How much fuel do you need for this flight? When then can they accept this massive presence of males? on a LPL-LTN?? Gr...

I don't think that would be the biggest problem. They can always fly westbound off track. This might result in higher fuelload, flighttime.Flanker2 wrote:and possibly even closure of the westbound NAT OS tracks.
