Re: Brussels Airlines in 2019

If I may interject, the reboot plan means some reductions and streamlining. I don't mind that they cut unprofitable route or change timings but they have to keep the flow into their longhaul operations. I prefer a core lean network that brings in money (also in times of economic slow down/crisis). M...

I don't know about the freight train, but the trains going to Belarus, Ukraine and Russia the carriages get lifted and put on new bogies (wheels) that are for the broader gauge and vice versa

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal

I'm not trying to give SN a free ride here - but another issue of delays is that of ATC, especially in Central Europe. Hungary has also major staff shortages, also in the Balkans and Greece. The CEO of Aegean also apologized to the customers in a personalized email. I have had this happen to me 2 ti...

Re: BRU Summer 2020: news, new routes, airlines

It depends also on how you view it. If UA like DL are putting their brand new business class seats on the BRU routes it means that there is a strong healthy demand up front which is always good (take note LH). The downgrade can also make sense if they will start the SFO flight - which can mean less ...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2019

Hello everyone,, I totally agree with the posts above and André's article re SN and EW. I just want to add that the Star Alliance partners won't be too happy about the changes either imho: will the UA Chicago flight codeshare with SN or EW or both? SN for the pax from Dakar and EW for the pax from ...

Re: BRU Winter 2019-2020: news, new routes, airlines

An article in check-in.dk Icelandair will increase capacity to Europe in the winter seasons 19/20. Brussels is one of the most noticeable increases together with Copenhagen, Dublin and Berlin. I think there is an implied measurement of 3% but I am not sure if in this article it relates just to CPH o...

Re: Brussels Airport (BRU): Star Alliance, Oneworld and Skyteam under one roof?

What was happening to the Qatar flights that were mentioned in another topic that they wanted apparently to start trans Atlantic flights? Apparently, there were also other airlines interested from across the pond. Do we have any news that we can expect within the next couple of months?

Re: Brussels Airport (BRU): Star Alliance and Oneworld under one roof?

I think AC should do all the Canada flying, doing Toronto and Montreal daily, and maybe add Vancouver for a good mix. LH should finally grow up and let AI (no matter their financial situation since they are government-backed) start a route to India. Let United add Houston, Denver, San Francisco to t...

Re: Eurowings in 2019

It sounds like they want to save face more than anything. Apparently, Eurowings should continue long haul as a brand, but not fly the routes - whatever that means (seems like what SN/Sunexpress do today). But also from FRA and MUC?! My gut feeling is that there are rumblings in the HQ of LH group. S...

Rumors circulating that FR may base 4 737s in Vie - Lauda (OE) has too high of a cost structure base and they have to present a plan to lower their costs. As I say rumor for now.

Re: Brussels Airport (BRU) infrastructure: future

You probably can't say anything, but even a small hint if we will get some new routes or airlines would be nice or some sort of expansion by existing carriers would be nice. You don't have to say who or to where, but just a yes or a no would suffice.

I also think what you Rwandan-flyer said is correct. Why not open new routes that have limited competition and earn also more money and also focus on the European network at the same time.

Re: Air Belgium in 2019

I'm afraid the whole business plan of Air Belgium has turned out to be a failure. They want to be a low-cost airline in a situation where Belgium is already invaded by numerous low-cost airlines, and with our "national carrier" being transformed into a low-cost also... Secondly, they chos...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2019

I am happy also with the developments. However, SN is not out of the woods just yet. I agree that "turnaround plan" doesn't sound like they are doing great. On the other side of that coin, I also believe that it will also focus on how to reintegrate SN with the network carriers with minima...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2019

Not fantastic, but if it was the strong part of the entire EW mess, it is good they split. As CF said "Happily single, but time to go to the gym." My feeling is to make profits with what they have now, and growth will come later (be that new routes, more aircraft, etc...).
