Re: Usage of Modern Russian/Ukrainian Airliners

Yes it's on the VTE-LPQ-VTE rotation today according to Flightradar24.com. Seems the Airline is having financial issues though and is not running many flights or expanding as planned. The other 2 Superjets they have on order are apparently going to Grozny Avia instead and will be (or have been) repa...

Flights Missing on Flightradar24com

Hi Does anyone understand why some flights are not shown on this website from certain Airports whilst others are. The best example I can give is the Superjet's flights from Batam (BTM), Indonesia. There is a Superjet based there but if you look at the arrivals and departures board from that Airport ...

Re: Russia considering ban to commercial acft over 20 years

Hi What a crazy proposition, totally useless and insane and by the way, they will shoot in their own foot as well. Not only they will play in the advantage of the 'Western' aircraft manufacturers, they will also create a vacuum in their own 'Russian' (Ukrainian) built transport capability, just to ...

Usage of Modern Russian/Ukrainian Airliners

It seems there is a lot of recently built Antonovs, Tupolevs & Ilyushins that are seeing little or no service so I thought I would do a quick summary of Airlines that have received Russian Equipment built this Century and what they are doing with it. Updates, Corrections etc welcome. Ukrainian A...

Aeroflot to the rescue? According to Italian press agency AGI, Alitalia is preparing preliminary talks with Aeroflot (or any other "strong international partner" for that matter) after Air France-KLM expressed reluctance to participate in the capital increase without stringent conditions....

Re: Boeing 787 news

Forget the batteries and possible fire, this time it fell appart mid-air. At least, according to Air India, one of their 787's lost a panel during a flight. Well, based on the picture, either that panel was never there or it was by far not sealed as it should be as there seems to be little to no re...

Re: British Airways introduces "hand-baggage only" fares

Should be a Popular fare since BA lose about 90% of checked luggage anyway so it's hardly worth paying them extra to check in bags when you could just leave at home and be (nearly) certain of seeing again!

Re: Airbus A350 news

Since the War Japan has been obsessed about not doing anything to upset the Americans.

Invariably blindly ordering Boeing Equipment while barely giving a thought to alternatives was just one symptom of this hang up.

Today Japan grew up a bit.

Re: Strange KEF landing of a LOT Boeing 787

Something creeps me out regarding the 787. As soon as one issue seems fixxed, another one pops up. I sincerely hope the 787 doesn't experience a fatal accident, or I guess the backlash could kill the -800. Anyways I'm certain they can manage To fix these issues, but for now I'll try to avoid flying...

me109, regi is just saying that they will get more money once the current money is gone. The organisation and the structure... is part of the reason why. Until recently when they miraculously turned a quarterly profit, I never believed in the current AZ. The problem is their hub strategy, moving ev...

Re: Aeroflot wants to leave Skyteam in favor of Star Allianc

Who knows if this is a good idea or not? A lot of traffic and revenue forecasting analysis would need to be done. But I am sceptical that their apparently poor relationship with Delta is justification for leaving the alliance. IMO there is noththing particularly wonderful about Delta - they are an o...

I will ask Yes! Sure! Do go ahead! Anybody can ask! Allow me some skepticism, though: those locals in the know (and it is not impossible you meet some), are they going to tell you? What can you offer them in return? Will you even be able to tell those in the know from the others? Whatever budget yo...

Obviously just a battery problem :)

Jacdec Airline Safety Rankings

http://www.jacdec.de/jacdec_safety_ranking_2012.htm Quite controversial I would have thought. Rankings I thought were interesting; American Carries have rated surprisingly poorly. Only JetBlue is in the top 20 and it is a low cost carrier. All US legacy carriers rank well below Transaero, the second...

Re: Austria bans Emirates A380

I was not surprised about the refusal of extra flights or capacity upgrade, I think more Governments, especially European ones who are Geographically more vulnerable to the ME Carriers, are going to try this tactic. But I am surprised the Austrians have denied the QF codeshare on existing EK flights...

Boeing will not tell the specific costs of the battery problems, but they will only say they were "minor". They have probably been hanging out with Ben Bernanke who would probably describe the US Government debt as "minor". In anyone else's language the cost of the battery probl...
