There was a problem with its landing gear, he only retracted his nose gear the main landing gear remained outside for the time i saw him.

saw a Air Canada A330 preparing for departure around 00:45 was this a delayed flight or just an empty return ?

That was the AC833, scheduled 10.45 for departure in the morning. So yes, a heavy delay, but don't know the reason.
