Parked at the 600 positions.

Beautiful colours, but view obstructed by stairs and police (no spotting at Abelag).

According to UK spotters G-VELD should be carrying David Cameron and staff for the EU summit.

I guess I was a bit naive to think that the UK had a sort of "Air Force One". Indeed it seems that they charter civilian aircraft.

Negative, they don't have one, at least not in the UK. The contract to fly the prime minister was awarded about a year ago to Virgin Atlantic, before that it was British Airways who flew the prime minister around the globe. The queen is still flying British Airways (separate contract) however, an exception to this is Canada who provides a plane for the Royal Family when visiting Canada (They use the Airbus CC-150 Polaris or the Bombardier CC-144 Challenger).

Most other countries do have "VIP" planes in their fleet to use for the government, however not necessary long haul. For a tiny country like Belgium our BAF has quite a few medium to long haul planes for VIP use in the fleet, not only for the government or the Royal Family but those are also used by other countries for NATO purposes (NATO troop transport, etc...).

The Royal Air Force Royal Squadron No 32 has also a BAe146 which is used for the Queen.

Indeed they'll have, and they had put an extra option to it !
When landed/touch down.. a little union jack will pop up just behind the cockpit to show that the queen / prince is on board..

Saw it once (on TV ) with Prince Charles on board.. (on Dutch Television )
Tought it had just a white livery with a tiny orange detail on it..

New types flown 2022.. A339

I managed to snap a pic from the Virgin Atlantic A340 right after it arrived. Too bad it was against the light. Also note the MD nicknamed "black thunder" of the Federal Police hovering above.

Jetairfly OO-JAA flew its last flight under callsigns JAF4EX and JAF9HT before it became C-FUAA for Sunwing Airlines during the winter season.

Anyone knows what was the destination of JAF4EX ?

Is there any translation table between callsigns and flightnumbers for Belgian carriers ?

Thannks for feedback.

Konus
