SWISS customers can now book individual seats on Edelweiss

Post by sn26567 »

Marrakech, Tenerife, Cancun, Male and Varadero are just some of the 15 destinations that SWISS customers will now be able to fly to on Edelweiss Air. Under the growing collaboration between the two carriers, SWISS customers can now book individual seats on Edelweiss Air flights. Miles & More miles can now also be earned and redeemed on all Edelweiss Air services with a SWISS flight number.

Edelweiss Air, Switzerland’s reputed leisure air carrier, will continue to provide services to several attractive vacation destinations in the coming winter schedules. And, as part of the growing commercial collaboration between itself and SWISS, travellers can now book individual seats (i.e. flights excluding land arrangements) on Edelweiss Air flights, making these services freely combinable with connecting services on the SWISS network. The individual seats will be available from tomorrow – under SWISS flight numbers – on all the major global distribution systems, and can be booked via SWISS.COM, edelweissair.ch, travel agencies or SWISS’s own reservations centre. The new option applies to all Edelweiss Air flights from October 26 onwards.

Miles & More members booking individual seats on Edelweiss Air services under their new SWISS flight numbers will also be able to earn and redeem Miles & More miles on the flights concerned. The new mileage opportunities further add to the appeal of the Miles & More programme.

“These product enhancements are more evidence of the additional customer benefits we are creating through our collaboration with Edelweiss Air,” says SWISS Chief Network & Distribution Officer Harry Hohmeister. “Edelweiss Air is already well established in the Swiss market, and will now also be offering our SWISS customers its top-class product in the leisure travel field.”

Edelweiss Air operates as a separate airline with its own management, fleet and crews within the SWISS Group. The “Edelweiss Air” brand, which was created in 1995, is also being retained. The carrier has a workforce of some 240 personnel and operates three short-haul Airbus A320 aircraft and one long-haul Airbus A330-200. The Edelweiss Air network will extend to 11 medium-haul destinations and eight intercontinental routes in the coming winter schedules. For the four destinations in Egypt (Hurghada, Sharm-el-Sheikh, Marsa Alam and Luxor), individual seats will only be available once the corresponding traffic rights have been obtained from the Egyptian aviation authorities.
