Royal Jordanian to resume service to Brussels in April

Post by sn26567 »

Royal Jordanian announced that it will resume flights between the Jordanian capital Amman, starting April 1, 2009.

Royal Jordanian will serve this route twice weekly, on Saturdays and Wednesdays, using the Airbus A319s, recently added to the fleet. The route is bound to stimulate relations between Jordan and Belgium and facilitate transportation of businessmen and goods, and serve the Jordanian and Arab communities residing in Belgium. Additionally, it will boost tourism in both countries.

RJ President/CEO Samer Majali said that the scheduled direct service to Brussels has been resumed for commercial reasons, following studies of the Belgian market, which indicated that it is feasible to reconnect Jordan and the European Capital.

Wilfried Van Assche, CEO of Brussels Airport, welcomes the decision of Royal Jordanian to return to Brussels, after suspending this route in 2003. The European capital was among the first cities Royal Jordanian flew to, as a direct route, in 1974.
"For many years, Royal Jordanian offered a strong product to connect Brussels with the Middle East. The introduction of direct freight operations between Brussels and Amman last year proved very successful, and there is no doubt that the new passenger flights will be very popular with both business and leisure passengers. "

Thus, Royal Jordanian will serve 57 destinations directly from Amman, in addition to other 700 destinations served by RJ's partners in the oneworld airline alliance.
