From today, Lufthansa passengers travelling from London City Airport will benefit from a mobile boarding pass service.
Upon checking-in online, passengers will be given the option of an electronic mobile boarding pass which will be sent to them via email or SMS to an internet-enabled mobile phone. At the security point and boarding gate passengers simply show the 2D bar code which appears on the screen of the mobile device. The 2D bar code is then scanned allowing the passenger to board their awaiting aircraft.
Commenting today, Richard Gooding OBE, Chief Executive of London City Airport said: “We welcome Lufthansa’s initiative. Using this technology makes the process of travelling through London City Airport even faster and creates a greener way to travel by eliminating the use of paper boarding cards”.
Lufthansa currently offer direct services to Berlin Tegel, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg and Munich from London City Airport.
