Brussels Airport: Departures curb closed this Saturday

Post by sn26567 »

The renovation of the departures curb is progressing well. This weekend will see the start of the next stage: the current temporary traffic lane will be moved so the contractor can re-asphalt this part of the curb.

To be able to put up the necessary signage and the construction site fences, the departure curb will be closed to all traffic on Saturday 8 November 2008 from 3:00 pm till presumably 8:00 pm. The federal police will supervise the area and stewards will assist the drivers.

The surface layer will probably be replaced in the night of 10 to 11 December and in the night of 11 to 12 December, depending on the weather conditions.

The whole curb, including the fully renovated passenger drop-off area, will be reopened at the end of December. The current temporary passenger drop-off area just beyond the passenger terminal will then cease to exist.

I send this post a few months after the opening of the new departure curb.

We could read during the construction works a lot of complaints how incompetent Brussels Airport is, no vision, the construction works could not be finised in December etc, etc.

After the works no single letter any more on this site. Have you seen how beautifull, good, nice and modern this place is? A lot of space for the pax and again trees who will give this place a peacefull sight.

Good job. I hope they will do the same with the arrival zone.
