VLM Airlines launch new route from Eindhoven to London City

Post by sn26567 »

VLM Airlines will be introducing a greater range of options for Dutch and Belgian travellers when it commences flights from Eindhoven to London City Airport next month.

The non-stop service will commence on 12th January 2009 and operate twice every weekday and once every Sunday, with flights at the beginning and end of every day timed to suit business and leisure travellers. The Eindhoven service is the airline’s fifth Dutch route and complements its frequent services between both Amsterdam and Rotterdam and its London City hub.

Johan Vanneste, Managing Director of VLM Airlines, says: “The Netherlands is a very important market for VLM Airlines and we are delighted to offer travellers from Eindhoven and the surrounding area direct access to the heart of London.” He adds: “Our regular services from Amsterdam and Rotterdam are already very popular with Dutch business travellers, and we expect our new route from Eindhoven to become well established within a short period of time. Whilst this route targets people and business in the south of The Netherlands, it will also be an appealing option for people in the northeast of Belgium and the west of Germany”.

VLM Airlines will use Fokker 50 turboprop aircraft on the 75 minute flights, with a choice of Business and Economy Class services for passengers. Economy Class passengers can enjoy complimentary light meals on board all flights, along with coffee and tea served on real china and a choice of alcoholic beverages. Business Class passengers enjoy a range of additional benefits including enhanced meals, newspapers, fully flexible tickets and increased baggage allowance.

The service offers a perfect day-return option for business passengers travelling to London, allowing them to have a complete working day and save on hotel costs.

Joost Meijs, CEO of Eindhoven Airport comments: “We are very pleased to see that VLM Airlines will start operating the Eindhoven – London City route. London City Airport is regularly used by a great deal of business passengers and the destination fits in perfectly within the Brainport thought, which promotes the connection of business destinations. We are convinced VLM Airlines will enable us to serve the business community further in the future. “

Flights from Eindhoven depart at 6.45am every weekday arriving at 7am, and at 4.35pm every weekday and Sundays arriving at 4.50pm. Return flights depart from London City at 8.30am arriving at 10.45am, and 6.20pm arriving at 8.35pm. All times are local. VLM Airlines will also offer connecting flights from Eindhoven to Jersey and Manchester via London City Airport.

Economy Class prices start from €91 one-way, including taxes and charges. For information and reservations, call 0900 450 5050 (The Netherlands) or 03/287 80 80 (Belgium), contact a travel agent orwww.flyvlm.com

The service was formerly operated by VLM Airlines’ partner Cityjet, using Dornier 328 aircraft seating 31 passengers. The introduction of VLM Airlines’ Fokker 50 aircraft represents a capacity increase of 418 seats on the route every week.
