Finnair increased its language selection:
Finnair´s Internet pages also in Spanish, Italian, French, Russian and Chinese
Finnairs expansion between Asia and Europe has created a need to serve passengers in a wider range of languages in different market places.
Finnair passengers can now also book their flights via the Internet on the company’s Spanish-, Italian-, French-, Russian- and Chinese-language websites.
“With the addition of the latest languages, we can serve half of the world’s global customers in their own language. Our range of languages now covers an estimated 3.3 billion people”, says Finnairs Mikko Tuomainen, who is responsible for Internet sales.
The Internet has become an increasingly important channel for flight ticket sales.
”At this time, Finnair sells a fith of its tickets on the Internet”, says head of Finnair Global Sales, Petri Schaaf. ”Last year the proportion of tickets sold on the Internet increased by 20 percent. Our estimate is that we will sell a third of our flight tickets on the Internet by 2010.”
Finnair offers an Internet booking service in a total of 11 languages, namely Finnish, Swedish, English, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, French, German and Russian.
