Traffic figures 2008 Ostend-Bruges International Airport

In 2008, 199,958 passengers began their holiday by taking a flight departing from Ostend Airport. Compared to 2007, the number of passengers increased by 11%.
Last year, 33,298 movements were recorded, which is an increase of 20.5% compared to 2007.
Freight transport decreased by 23.9% compared to 2007. These results, however, need to be nuanced. On the one hand, airline companies also have to deal with the present economic crisis. On the other hand, the airport could not be used by freighters during one month due to urgent works. Moreover, 2008 was a difficult year for one of the major customers of the airport, which resulted in no flights being carried out during approximately one month. Their annual figures decreased by 47.3%.
If we take into account the above factors, it is understandable that the freight figures of Ostend Airport have decreased by 23.9% compared to 2007.
