Brussels: Cargo building Brucargo West 1 fully occupied

Post by sn26567 »

Brussels Airport started the construction of Brucargo West 1 at the end of 2007, to be completed at the end of 2008. This warehouse is the first building of a global project that is to result in 120,000m² of additional warehousing space at Brucargo West, the new cargo area at Brussels Airport. The building represents an investment of 26 million euros and in no time was entirely rented. Now that UTI also moved in, the new cargo building is fully occupied.

The building offers a total of 30,000m² of warehousing space, the surface area of six soccer fields. The storage height of 10 meters allows for the storage and handling of enormous cargo volumes in the building that is only a few steps away from the aprons where cargo aircraft are loaded and unloaded. Moreover the building also provides 4,700m² of office space.

The building currently accommodates six companies: Belgian Post International occupies 10,000m² of logistic space and 2,700m² of office space; while Service Air Cargo and Mozer Internationaal use 4,800m² and 5,240m² of storage space respectively. All Freight rents 3,840m² of storage space and 500m² of office space, with UTI this is 6,240m² and 1,500m² respectively. SDV occupies 500m² of office space.

The six companies together employ 550 staff in the building. The fact that Brucargo West is easily accessible by public transport (1000 buses a day serve Brucargo) was a decisive argument for the majority of these companies in deciding to set up at the airport.
