Brussels Airport lounges: 2 x in the Top 50

Post by sn26567 »

Business Traveller magazine is the world's leading trade magazine for business travel. In the latest issue they published their annual global "TOP 50" of airport lounges. And Brussels Airport made the top 50 twice.

Our airport is one of the few airports to be listed twice in the top 50, the others being the top airports of London, Paris, Los Angeles, Singapore and Seoul.

Airport lounges are areas that are made available by airlines to their frequent flyers, so they can wait for their flight away from the hassle of the airport. Passengers can enjoy a meal or a drink in all comfort or may catch up on work or simply relax. In the past, lounges strongly appealed to the imagination because of the luxury they offer. A classy interior, an easy chair and an appropriate snack or drink constitute the backbone of any lounge service. Today efficiency is the key word for the business traveller. Lounges will usually provide their favourite paper, internet access, news television, flight information and other media, but also meeting facilities, the possibility to recharge their mobile phone, PDA or laptop, and sometimes even shower facilities.

The Business Traveller jury was especially charmed by Brussels Airlines' "Sunrise lounge" in the T zone and the Jet Airways lounge in Pier B.

The loft-style lounge of the Indian carrier Jet Airways, which is located in pier B, opened in 2007. This exclusive lounge is available to passengers in Première class - Jet Airways' business class - on the six long-haul flights: about 180 passengers a day. The lounge was designed by the renowned American architecture and design specialist SOM (Skidmore, Owings and Merrill) and features furniture by Poltrona Frau and the Italian Cassina. In the aviation industry, this Jet Airways lounge is considered a top reference for lounge services and has received much attention from specialised life-style media from Europe and the rest of the world.

Brussels Airlines' Sunrise Lounge is situated in the centre of terminal T at Brussels Airport. In the mornings, this zone at the end of pier A is used exclusively for Brussels Airlines' Africa flights. The lounge is located next to the gates from which the daily non-stop flights to Africa depart. The interior is modern with African accents. The Sunrise lounge is situated in a top location overlooking the airport. The much-praised lounge features include an internet corner, a chill-out zone, a sports bar and a dedicated kids' corner.
