Mexicana joins oneworld

Mexico and Central America's leading airline Mexicana became part of oneworld airline alliance today on November 10. Finnair has been a member of oneworld for ten years.

Along with Mexicana, its subsidiaries MexicanaClick and MexicanaLink joined oneworld at the same time.

From November 10, 2009, members of Finnair frequent flyer programme are also able to earn and redeem mileage awards and use other oneworld benefits, such as alliance fares, on Mexicana's and its subsidiaries' flights.

Mexicana brings oneworld 67 destinations in 14 countries in Central, North and South America and Europe, including 37 points in Mexico. The airlines' main hub is Mexico City.

oneworld airlines carried 330 million passengers last year. The oneworld alliance members are currently American Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Finnair, Iberia, Japan Airlines, LAN, Malév Hungarian Airlines, Mexicana, Qantas and Royal Jordanian as well as around 20 subsidiaries. S7 Airlines will join the alliance during the year 2010.
