Ryanair increases baggage charges… again

Post by sn26567 »

Ryanair passengers will see checked luggage charges on peak services increase by up to £60 per bag for bookings made from next week, and the penalty for forgetting to print out your boarding pass will soar to an eye-watering £60 from January.

From December 15, checked luggage bookings made online for “peak travel periods” (which Ryanair determines as June, July, August, September and “Christmas”) will increase by £5 to £25 per bag, for bags weighing up to 15kg.

Meanwhile fees for the same bag checked in at the airport will increase to £60 (up £25) per bag for off-peak services, and to £100 per bag for peak services (up £60).

In addition the carrier is increasing its “boarding card reissue penalty” from £40 to £60 per person per flight from January 15, 2012. Ryanair says that “less than ten passengers per day” forget to bring their boarding passes with them.

Online checked baggage fees outside of peak travel periods will remain at £15 per bag.

I have no problem with that. As long as passengers realise it. ( printing out the boarding card is a way of confusing )
I even have less problems with it because I don't use Ryanair anymore myself.

Ryanair is a company and its sole reason of existance is to make profit , to hand over to the shareholders.
So if the managment thinks this is the best way to make profit, so be it.

Great news from the company that promotes that it doesn't ask fuel surcharges...

Well there will be no problems as some members on here say they (passengers) don't travel with luggage... ;-)
So problem avoided

I don't think that air travel will be any cheaper next year - no matter the company.
I am afraid that, like everything else, the air fares will be raised and not by a tiny bit.

If only 10 passengers per day forget to print out their boarding passes, why do they need to increase the penalty? I guess it will be much more than 10 passengers per day.

Don't forget the cabin bags restriction !
As seen everywhere, the weight control is stronger from month to month!
Guess the penalty will increase too !
They can win a lot with the system....
Next step ?..... cabin bag limited to 6 kg ?

You are right, Air Berlin is already 6kg , I'm sure Ryanair will follow. And what is next? I guess internet will come, and ptv, for money of course.

I am informed about the same from several sides. In general all costs are increasing, worldwide. From mid 2012 we will see an increase of about 20% in general.

Well, it’s a fact of life and according to what I read, they will continue to charge some charges these coming years. We don’t have any option but to pay for every luggage charges we have. However, they are not likely disappearing, as it is harder for airlines to make a living these days. How often have you needed more details on the best way short terms loans and resorted to a web site search on reputable payday loan companies?" Your search is over, all the information and facts you need is at MatchFinancial.
