Kon Tiki Sky starting flights from Antwerp?

Post by VEX802 »

http://www.kontikisky.com/index.php/en/ ... hts/77-now

According to their website, the Serbian Airline Kon Tiki Sky will start several routes from Antwerp Airport:

ANTWERP FLIGHTS FROM 01-05-2012;

SKOPJE (SKP)
2 times weekly from € 70 ALL INN!

LONDON (SEN)
14 times weekly from € 35 ALL INN!

SOFIA (SOF)
3 times weekly from € 70 ALL INN!

BUCHAREST (BBU)
2 times weekly from € 70 ALL INN!

BARCELONA (GRO)
4 times weekly from € 60 ALL INN!

ALICANTE (ALC)
2 times weekly from € 70 ALL INN!

Anyone more details about the reliability of this information?

I'm not sure, the official website is http://kontiki.mk/ but since my Macedonian is a bit rusty I can't find any flights to Antwerp on this site.

Just a random search:

Antwerp Airport - ANR > Alicante Airport (ALC)DateSaturday, 18 August 2012Flight No.ALR717Departure17:45Arrival20:00ClasseconomyPrice2x €70.00
.
Alicante Airport (ALC) > Antwerp Airport - ANRDateThursday, 23 August 2012Flight No.ALR718Departure06:30Arrival08:45ClasseconomyPrice2x €70.00

According to their website, they have a mixed fleet of 737-500, ATP and RJ85. Very strange.

The registrant of kontikisky.com seems also a bit sketchy:

The same person has also sobelairbe.com on his name. The company is registered at the KVK as a foreign company and is part of Sobel Terminals NV (now renamed to Sobel Group NV with address in Hoogstraten, Belgium). This company changed a bit of their activities in the Belgian register last November but I can't see any airline activities nor travel included.

So I'm very doubtfull that it's real...

It seems that the 14 weekly flights Antwerp-Southend mean 7 flights each way, ie one daily return flight ...

Long time ago - back in 2004 - there was a company in the Netherlands "Jets-sky" who wanted to do about the same thing: offering very cheap flights from AMS. However, research from De Telegraaf showed they had no leasing contract for aircraft. Check this topic:
viewtopic.php?t=2962&p=23109

The same story happened again in 2007, this time out of Antwerp : Sobelair Sun Tours. They also had no lease contract for aircraft. Their project was stopped when the two persons behind this set up were arrested in a major fraud case (Antwerp Ship Repair) as you can check in this newspaper report:
http://www.nieuwsblad.be/article/detail ... d=721B8VMR

Some other relevant articles:
http://www.standaard.be/artikel/detail. ... d=H01B8SPR

http://www.luchtvaartnieuws.nl/nl-NL/Ar ... angehouden

Any similarity with the names of the persons, company names and addresses is pure coincidence...

Hi, I don't really trust the site of kontiki sky. My security software says it might be a malicious site. I wanted to book a flight but checked some things and i'm a bit wary. So i checked the website of antwerp airport and it doesn't mention anything about kontiki starting flights from antwerp... I've written a mail to antwerp airport and am awaiting their answers. When I get the answer I'll post it here. I would be careful!

flights should be operated under the AOC of the romanian Alfa Air... But for the moment no A/C available for operations. Alfa Air has only 1 BAE 146-200 VIP and some GA aircrafts.

But Kontiki is not the only "start-up"this days... the seccond is Air Valee who has ambitious plans but, as Kon tiki sky, they do not have the fleet to opperate those flights. They are selling the tickets (even out of BRU) but I am courious what passengers will find in the airport the day they are suposed to fly.

BAE146-200 in VIP conf is indeed nice. But it's not the 737-500 Kon Tiki announces.

Furthermore, Alfa Air mentions the IATA logo on their site:
http://www.alfa-air.eu/en/aboutus.html

But I don't find them in the IATA list:

Hi all,

I don't think that Kon Tiki Sky start with an B737 at EBAW.
I think that the runway is to short for an full loaded airplane!
British Airways has this problem some years ago with the ATR on the route Antwerp - Londen.
The capacityof the ATR was a max. of 80%.

To be continued.........!

Back in the old days Sabena did fly out of ANR with the 732 AFAIK... Don't know if the were empty or full. Anyway I don't believe a single word out of this until I see the first plane arrive and take off.

To LHR and BRU, light because not much fuel needed. A heavy 737 will be a problem. They better come with a STOL aircraft.

Here is another "realization" from the two guys behind the failure of Jets-Sky (AMS), the failure of Sobelair Sun Tours, and the bankruptcy of Antwerp Ship Repair (2007): the bankruptcy of CTR Antwerp - Container Trading & Repair in 2010:

(regret, story about a company in Antwerp, so only available in Dutch. But http://translate.google.com/# can help you for free)
