Eurofighter 48 - Rafale 0

Post by pietn »

I've red that Saudi Arabia has completed a deal with the UK for the order of 48 Eurofighter Typhoon's to replace their Tornado ADV's, the order may be extended to 72 aircraft to replace their F-5's too.
The Eurofighter was in competition with the Rafale for this contract.
Good for the Eurofighter program, but the Rafale has yet to get the first export order :?

yes, I put this as a news subject but it was not published.
It will keep 6000 people of BAE at work for 5 years or so.

I can hardly see the Rafale flying for any country aside France. Beautiful aircraft indeed, but hardly an export success.

You must remember that Britain and Saudi Arabia have signed a military agreement concerning training and joint exercises years ago. The French (to my knowledge) didn't. This sort of military cooperation will always influence the decision to buy military hardware.
