Dutch Spotters Convention/Verzamelbeurs/Aviation Fair/

Post by stratofreighter »

The Dutch Spotters Convention
When: 10 November 2007. Time: 10.00 - 16.00 Where: Rotterdam Airport

FREE entrance, FREE parking, FREE photo platform tours!

On Saturday 10 November 2007, Airnieuws Nederland and Dutch Aviation Society will return to Rotterdam Airport to organise the aviation convention/luchtvaartverzamelbeurs that is known for years as the Dutch Spotters Convention (DSC). The Dutch Spotters Convention ( http://www.scramble.nl/dsc.htm ) will be held in the terminal building of Rotterdam Airport, like in April 2007.

In the terminal building dozens of booths will be put up with books, magazines, DVDs/CDs, postcards, aircraft models, slides, photos, videos, and many other aviation related collectables. Also other aviation societies and aviation companies will be present.
Finally - to be confirmed - photo-tours over the apron and runway of the airport will be organised. Meanwhile the airport restaurant is an excellent location to socialise with friends and fellow enthusiasts, enjoying a cup of coffee and/or a sandwich.

The convention is not only meant for aircraft spotters, but also for other persons (collectors/verzamelaars) interested in civil and military aviation. Rotterdam Airport, Airnieuws Nederland and Dutch Aviation Society invite all aviation enthusiasts to come to Rotterdam!!
Rotterdam Airport can easily be reached by motorway/highway A13. Visitors of the convention will be offered free parking on parking lots P1 and P3 (long term parking). You can exchange your parking card for a free exit card at the Airnieuws booth. The offer does not apply to other parking lots. For driving directions see http://www.rotterdam-airport.nl .

The airport can be reached by bus 33 from Rotterdam Central Station (at peak hours a departure every 10 minutes!) For train schedules see http://www.ns.nl . Travelling time by public transport bus from Rotterdam Central Station to the terminal building is about 25 minutes. For more information and schedules, see http://www.rotterdam-airport.nl . Admittance to the Dutch Spotters Convention is free! The convention is from 10.00 to 16.00 hours.

Hello 747man and others,

Yes, you are very much welcome in Rotterdam!

What is unfortunately certainly not for free are the drinks in the restaurant. But I have yet to find a single airport restaurant where the prices are not extortionately high... And yes, we tried!

Currently the DSC is the only Aviation Fair in The Netherlands that has a heavy civil content. All other fairs in Holland only deal in military stuff, we try to accommodate both civil and mil.

Rotterdam Airport is only 80 minutes/115 kilometres over the motorway by car from Antwerpen Airport. And then it is only 40 minutes/55 kilometres by the same motorway to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. :!:

From motorway exit to the entrance of Rotterdam Airport is only 500 metres!

Rotterdam Central Station is located along the main railway Brussels-Antwerpen-Rotterdam-Amsterdam Airport-Amsterdam. Buses at Rotterdam Central run to the airport frequently, you could even make it a "day out" in Holland! It takes an intercity about 50 minutes to reach Amsterdam Airport railway station from Rotterdam Central Station. And yes, the terraces at Amsterdam are still open. From 09.00 hrs till 17.00 hrs in the winter after the last Sunday of October.

Goodafternoon,
I don't know for the Netherlands but I don't think we have holiday in Belgium on the 10th. We do have holiday on the 11th.
So, for some of us, a strange day to hold a covention.

We have a convention here in Belgium tommorrow in Koninklijk Atheneum in Zaventem. Unfortunately I am abroad.

Greetings, Karl

Just to be sure (again checked some calendars :D ): the convention will be held on SATURDAY the 10th of November.

Am afraid in the end I cannot make it to the Brussels convention tomorrow. Unforeseen circumstances...

Perfect, a lot of people and a lot of stuff.

I wish that this would be done more often in Belgium.
