Passagiers vast op Zaventem

Op Brussels Airport zijn zaterdagavond omstreeks 19.30 uur zestien afgeleide vluchten geland, die Londen als eindbestemming hadden. Volgens woordvoerder Jan Van der Cruysse zitten door de capaciteitsproblemen op luchthavens in de buurlanden nu tussen 3.000 en 4.000 passagiers vast in Zaventem.

'De vluchten met bestemming Londen zijn afkomstig uit alle windstreken. Aangezien eindbestemming Londen buiten de Europese Schengenzone ligt, hebben niet al deze passagiers een visum voor ons land. Heel wat gestrande passagiers zullen de nacht dus moeten doorbrengen op de luchthaven', aldus Van der Cruysse.

Brussels Airport heeft al gevraagd om geen verdere vluchten naar Zaventem af te leiden. Het Rode Kruis, de brandweer en het luchthavenpersoneel zullen bedjes en slaapplaatsen voorzien.

Heel wat vluchten op Brussels Airport lopen zaterdag vertraging op, maar de luchthaven is wel normaal in gebruik. Van der Cruysse raadt passagiers aan op de website van de luchthaven te controleren of hun vlucht doorgaat en indien nodig contact op te nemen met hun luchtvaartmaatschappij.

In the meanwhile 18 diverted airplanes landed safely in Brussels Airport which were all on their way to Heathrow. Origins? Seoul, L.A., Kuwait, Bangladesh, China, Delhi...

Thanks. I always thought an A319 with 2 over-wing exits had an U2 or 1B origin.
