Re: LIS-ATH-LCA-*ECN*-SAW-AMS-BOR-LIS/FNC with TP/A3/PC/HV/K
Now we are flyiing out from Ercan International (IATA: ECN, ICAO: LCEN), This is an airport in the de facto Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. However since the airport lies in an internationally unrecognized country, its status as an international airport is also unrecognized and the airport codes do not appear in the official IATA and ICAO lists.
So we can only fly outin turkish registered airlines or non-turkish that come/go to a Turkish airport.
Our flight was to Istanbul-Sabiha Gökçen, with Pegasus Airlines
X-ray at terminal's entrance. PKK fear?
A fraud border stamp, sinc KKTC is not a recognised country!!!
We flew in this 737 to SAW.
No way to steal the safety card
Advertising in the overhead bins' doors, cannot be seen in this pic:(

Too dark for pics arriving at SAW, let's move to the departure.
We had to pay 15 euros for visa at the arrival, since KKTC is "an indepedent crountry"
No cross, red crescent allways
Our 738, to AMS
At AMS, my wife flew to FNC with Transavia, in the same 738 we came from SAW. I went to Lisbon via Bordeaux, so time to spare.
15 degs, rain...brghhhhhhhhhh
Best toilet EVER!!!
That is a Fokker 70/100 open for visit!!
No Shell??
One of those E170s is for me.
mean looking

arghhh...
this river is MUD. But goes all the way to the mediterraean, via Toulouse city centre, one of the main wonders of man built infrastructures
arriving at Merignac (Dassault factory)
One of 12 built Mercures!!
that makes it 2/12
AWESOME the CNES (French Space Agency) Zero gravity flight airplanes. These fly parabolic trajectories to get a few seconds of no gravity, to enable scientific experiments without going to the ISS.
This is the old one, a Caravelle, and the current A300!!
French Government A330, at Sabena maintenance.
I am not taking this one, have to wait 3h for an E145, from AF Regional
Aerolineas Argentinas A310
Dassault factory

Again a nice photo-report, with many unusual sightings: Northern Cyprus (been there, in Nicosia, but not to Ercan airport), the Mercure (flew one once, many many years ago...).
Keep posting your trips!

Tapclassic thanks for your suberp pictures and report. Well done. Please allow me to make some comments:
We had to pay 15 euros for visa at the arrival, since KKTC is "an indepedent crountry"
(You have paid 15 Euros because the citizens of Portugal have to pay this when they enter Turkey. It has got nothing to do where you are coming from.It is a sticker visa issued by Turkey)
No cross, red crescent allways
( I am suprised you have expected to see RedCross in a muslim country! RedCrescent has the same functions of RedCross.)

Hi about the red crescent no news (for me), I've also seen the red star of David, it's just the first time I got it on picture.hakan wrote:Tapclassic thanks for your suberp pictures and report. Well done. Please allow me to make some comments:
We had to pay 15 euros for visa at the arrival, since KKTC is "an indepedent crountry"

About the visa, thanks for the clarification.
We were hoping to get it freebie, because we came from the KKTC.
Luckily we had TLs, not sure if they'd accept credit cards.
BTW, SAW is awesome!!! There was an An124!

It was in the 1970es, on a business trip to Aix-en-Provence. I flew AF from BRU to ORY (Paris Orly) and from there IT (a Mercure of Air Inter) from ORY to MRS (Marseille).tapclassic wrote:WOW!!!sn26567 wrote:..he Mercure (flew one once, many many years ago...).

Can you comment on that?
Do you have pics?
No pics unfortunately...

I flew Air Inter once, Marseille-ORY, and hoped that it had been the Mercure.sn26567 wrote:It was in the 1970es, on a business trip to Aix-en-Provence. After some fleet digging I realised it was an A320.
Huge joy when I visited the one at Athis-Mons.

great report !
Some funny remarks as well.
My Greek is a bit rusty. I read 2 different words for exit: exodou ( on safety card ) and exodos ( on the door)
The first one exodou is probably a genitive form of the same word exodos ?
Am I right that we see C-17 ( RAF?) at Cyprus?

Indeed, a well-written trip report with many excellent photographs !
The plane with the red tail standing next to the airbus A319 operated by Easyjet is a Boeing 737-800 operatig for the Egyptian carrier Midwest Airlines. The company isn't seen regularly in Western Europe. I think you can compary the company to AMC Airlines, another Egyptian holiday carrier that you saw at Larnaca airport (probably flying for Egyptair). During the Easter holidays, the airline had some flights from Hurghada to Amsterdam, but many were eventually cancelled. It currentely operates three Boeing 737-800 aircraft and has an order for one additional aircraft. The airline operated two Airbus A310 aircraft before. It also flew one Boeing 737-600 that previously operated for the UK company FlyGlobespan (now bankrupt). It was one of the first Boeing next generation aircraft to be scrapped.
