Boeing China said yesterday that several Dreamliners will arrive in China before June. The CAAC is expected to approve the 787 very soon after which China Southern and Hainan Airlines will start to take delivery of their first 787's. Currently there are 3 Dreamliners waiting for customer test flights (1 for China Southern and 2 for Hainan). Another one for Hainan is about to make a post battery fix flight after which customer test flight(s) will follow. And a second one for China Southern is undergoing the battery fix.

And the first 787 that was delivered since the grounding (ANA's JA818A) arrived in Japan last night. Currently there are 51 787's delivered (of which only 2 so far in 2013, this one for ANA and one for Air India before the grounding).

The 787 that Boeing used to certify the battery modifications, is now also delivered to LOT and will leave for WAW later this day (normally). So that's the second delivery this week and there will be many more in the comming weeks...finally.

Royal Brunei will receive its first 788 in September, a second one in October and two more in February/March 2014.
Royal Brunei previously said they expect their first 787 on the first of September (that was before the grounding), now they confirmed September again (but no date I believe). So it seems Boeing expects to work away most of the delay in deliveries over the comming summer months

At the end of this year there will be quite an amount of new 787 users: Thomson, Aeromexico, British Airways, Norwegian, Hainan, China Southern, Royal Brunei, Jetstar and hopefully JetairFly. Kenya Airways and Air Canada are also quite high on the list, but these will not be delivered in 2013 anymore, more like first quarter of 2014 (probably).
Currently the list is as follows:
- ANA: 18
- JAL: 7
- Air India: 6
- United Airlines: 6
- Qatar Airways: 5
- Ethiopian Airlines: 4
- LAN Airlines: 3
- LOT Polish Airlines: 3
Total: 52 (of which 3 in 2013)

This year, Boeing is expected to produce between 75 and 76 Dreamliners, meaning it will exceed deliveries which are forecast at 67 by Swiss bank UBS.

Estimates indicate Boeing’s 787s will sell for an average $116 million per unit, a 48% discount to the average list price of $225 million.

Boeing will have to push hard if it expects bring the production costs (currently estimated at $200 million per unit) down to about $110 million, the point at which it will stop losing money selling Dreamliners. To do this, Boeing will have to be 50% more efficient than it was with the 777.

Breakeven is expected in 2015.

Breakeven on each individual 787 being build and delivered, not the whole program (that will not happen before they delivered about 1,100 aircraft). Just to make sure there's no doubt about that. ;)

About the 787-9. The cockpit section of ZB001 has been powered up at Spirit's production facility. Will be delivered to the Boeing final assembly line in about 8 days.

About the Chinese 787's. CAAC is now said to approve the 787 on Monday (May 27) and China Southern will take delivery of the first 787 the day after (fly away probably later next week, but it should arrive in China before the end of the month). This is the first of a big row. There is quite an amount of Chinese 787's ready or almost ready for delivery.

China's CAAC okays Boeing's 787 but restricts use to domestic ops

Boeing) has received the all clear from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) regarding planned B787-8 overseas-operations in China, set to begin in the coming months. However, according to the administration's approval statement, the CAAC "will require carriers to operate their 787s only on domestic routes initially".

Both China Southern Airlines and Hainan Airline expect to take delivery of their first of 10 respective Dreamliners over the coming weeks with Hainan Airlines hoping to use them on its new flight from Beijing Capital (PEK) to Chicago O'Hare International (ORD) on September 3. There have been some concerns from the Chinese media over the proposed "run in" period for the 787 as China Southern Airlines, the only local customer for the A380-800, racked up heavy losses after being required to fly their A380s on domestic routes only for a year before receiving clearance to start international service.

Probably 3 deliveries this week. Today one for Air India is supposed to be delivered, will arrive in India later this week. The first for China Southern is supposed to be delivered on May 31 (to arrive in China on the second of June). The first Thomson Dreamliner is supposed to arrive in Manchester at 11am local time this friday (May 31).

Hi there, I've posted some photos of the China Southern Airlines Boeing 787 on my blog.

The airline will receive its first Boeing 787 on 31st May 2013, with the aircraft scheduled to arrive in Guangzhou a couple of days later.

Initially, the Asian carrier’s first Dreamliner will only be operated on domestic routes, although it will later be deployed on international services.

G-TUIA has been delivered today (30/05) and the second for Thomson (G-TUIB) may be delivered tomorrow.

Singapore Airlines, which also firmed a deal for 30 Airbus A350-900 aircraft, signed a deal with Boeing to order 30 Boeing 787-10X aircraft. When Boeing launches the program, Singapore Airlines will firm up the order. The aircraft will be delivered between 2018-2020, they didn't announce an engine selection yet.
This makes Singapore Airlines the first to 'announce' a signed contract for the new 787-10X.

Meanwhile Thomson received their second 787, China Southern received its first one and both JAL and ANA got an extra 787 over the past few days. That makes up to 8 deliveries for this year so far and 57 in total to 10 airlines. Many more could be delivered this month.

Besides that, the first 787-9 started final assembly on May 30. All the parts/sections were delivered on time or ahead of shedule by the suppliers, so they started assembling on shedule. The tail already shows the updated Boeing-livery (seems to be like the livery they show on their 737MAX renders).

Yes you could say 'A3X0' on the Airbus livery is similar to the 787 on this Boeing livery, but that's about it..

A bit over the top to call this a battery problem, isn't it? It was a problem with a air-pressure sensor of the battery container. Happens all the time, sensors that are not doing what they have to do. But because it's a 787 and especially because it's somehow related to the batteries, it's in the press all over the world again (also in Belgium).
