I don't understand this move now when you come from an African or USA flight you have to wait the 18:55 flight to go to East-Midlands airport!!!!sn26567 wrote:From 7 December bmi Regional are improving the flight schedule between East Midlands and Brussels to offer better flight times, convenience and more flexibility. From February 29th and at least until the end of the winter season, Brussels Airlines will launch a third rotation to Billund. While the current 12 return flights per week are operated by FlyBe, the new afternoon flights on Monday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday will be flown by an Avro 100 from SN. Flight SN2251 leaves BRU at 13:05, landing in Billund at 14:30. The return flight (SN2252) departs at 15:00 and gets back to Brussels at 16:30.

Thats quite a capacity increase, short notice.Avnu wrote:From February 29th and at least until the end of the winter season, Brussels Airlines will launch a third rotation to Billund. This route must be doing really good then, and then to say there were some doubts over the sustainability of the twice daily schedule at launch!
Is that Danish commuter airline still flying on this route too, BTW?
Otherwise this might be the nail in their coffin.
Once again they post an addition to their network fully out of sync with their usual seasonal update.
They've really become a dynamic company to say the least!

My guess of SN's success on this route: Danish feeder traffic! Something Sun-Air of Scandinavia isn't able to offer in BRU.Inquirer wrote:Thats quite a capacity increase, short notice.Avnu wrote:From February 29th and at least until the end of the winter season, Brussels Airlines will launch a third rotation to Billund. BRU seems to attract more and more connecting pax; very well, and it needs to remain so. This means not too many shops in the way, please...
Re: BRU Winter 2015/2016: latest news, routes, airlines
The plan for the moment is that the Avro should be gone for end 2017. If they had new routes with the Avro (Belfast, Billund,...) it mean the other Avro route will become more quickly Airbus routes. Marseille and Toulouse in September followed with Milan, Oslo later

Regarding the Brussels-Billund route: yes, Sun-Air is still flying that route as well (operating as a BA franchisee) and charging considerably higher fares.
There's some more info about the third rotation here (in Danish): http://www.check-in.dk/brussels-paa-vej ... ra-billund. In summary:
- An aircraft became available all of a sudden and it was decided to use it on the BLL route
- The intention is to continue the third flight for the summer as well, but planning still pending
- The main use of the route in point-to-point, not connecting traffic. Passengers that do connect do so mostly to New York with a smaller group flying on to Southern Europe (Nice, Malaga). Traffic from Billund to Africa is negligible and there's too much competition with Air France/KLM anyway.

The available aircraft is that one from the Riga-route which will be discontinued very soon.Avnu wrote:Regarding the Brussels-Billund route: yes, Sun-Air is still flying that route as well (operating as a BA franchisee) and charging considerably higher fares.

Surprised to learn about high share of point-to-point traffic. Sounds great for the route!

Hi,
Very strange that the LEGO route is that succesfull...
SN must be atrract a lot of Danish people for connecting inward traffic on good fares !
Don't think the Sunair lost a lot of pax. because it's a whole different public!
Sunair you may consider as a really full business class product like the A318 BA BA1-2 flights to JFK from LCY!
This is high end exclusive business route which ( one world )people never will switch to SN cattle class !
Took this route three times and it's only business,LEGO people and some well known Danish sports cycling teams which uses it... and AVGeeks with OW Avios offcourse.. because of the Jetstream,Dorniet Jet and Prop aircraft !
But good thing they can live both next eachother !

Actually it makes sense, the aircraft depart from EMA at 19.35, arrives at BRU at 21.45. Then the aircraft overnight in BRU and depart in the morning at 6.55 to arrive at 7.05 in EMA, it make a quick turnaround and take off at 7.30 to arrive at BRU 9.40.lumumba wrote:I don't understand this move now when you come from an African or USA flight you have to wait the 18:55 flight to go to East-Midlands airport!!!!sn26567 wrote:From 7 December bmi Regional are improving the flight schedule between East Midlands and Brussels to offer better flight times, convenience and more flexibility. Heard that Hainan would like to start a Shanghai - Brussels with a 330.

I also heard this, but thought that they just applied for the route so farDesert Rat wrote:Heard that Hainan would like to start a Shanghai - Brussels with a 330.
No idea whether it would come true
I hope so, though I would have hoped more for a *A link
But one should take what he can get, sometimes
