read this and I must admit if there's a price for the biggest LOSER award that will be BRU airport

downsizing aircrafts, cancelled routes, no new airliners, downsizing frequency, less passengers....
( ok the terror attacks where here an issue, but the problems where before this )

keep up the good job BRU (cynical)
Bad faith button has been pressed on
Cheers

Let me explain, I love BRU airport but I need to admit I'am not a frequent traveller but my family does. but I'am the one who needs to book their tickets for asia.

I love aviation and I love reading this website and I'am checking everyday the section Re: BRU Summer 2016: news, new routes, airlines hoping for.... yes hoping for more new routes, bigger aircrafts some more new airliners. but since the terror attacks it seems ( ok its not BRU fault) that in my feeling every airliner abroad is showing their back to us in downsizing, leaving the airport ( ex: Jet Airways), Belgium politic seems doing their best to bullying passengers, strikes of traffic controllers, strikes of police ... you need to understand my frustration.

like the newstopic of AMS that is getting a award, I must admit AMS is very attractive for other airliners and they seems to attract every airliners they want.
Aeromexico, XIamen airliners, Qatar upgrading to 777, A350 Singapore Airlines launch route to AMS, Emirates sending their A380 twice daily, hub for Delta, hub for Jet... several exiting news for them and BRU is in my feeling becoming a regional airport left with peanuts
don't understand me wrong these is my frustration to write about it. BRU is not sexy- BRU is becoming a regional airport.
and again I don't want to offend anyone thus this is comparing apples with oranges.
conclusion I'am a bit jealous

I think one needs to be reasonable - Brussels will never be AMS, CDG or FRA, and can't really compete with any of them - it is, like you say, a regional airport with some international connections, and perhaps it's best that way. I am being intentionally provocative.

First of all AMS has KLM...and BRU has SN...I guess they could compete.. in a far future IF SN is ambitious !

Would this not a small one consequence of the arrival of SN on YYZ route ?

It's only for 1 month, so no idea about that.

Another collateral damage of the Brussels Attacks?

UNITED during the month of May and June 2016 is reducing operations on Chicago – Brussels route, where it’ll operate 4 weekly flights (6 in mid-May) instead of 7. This route is operated by Boeing 777-200ER aircraft.

Operational period and days is based on ORD departure, BRU departs on the following day.
02MAY16 – 08MAY16 Day x123
09MAY16 – 15MAY16 Day x3
16MAY16 – 03JUL16 Day x123 (Day 3 from ORD operates on 31MAY16, Day 2 from ORD operates on 07JUN16)

Code: Select all

For as far as I know, ET will operate more triangles in the future, either ADD-CDG-BRU-ADD or ADD-BRU-CDG-ADD. ET using in Europe the SN strategy in Africa :)

But today it is ADD-BRU-CDG-BRU-ADD!!!!
Means they put Brussels in first place :-)

If SN is still code sharing with them than it's good for the transit pax.

But from June it's back to normal 5xweek ADD-CDG-BRU-CDG-ADD.
Hasta la victoria siempre.

My bet for the aircraft: Thomas Cook (UK or Scandinavia) A330 or Condor 767. ;)

Air Nostrum (a regional airline from Spain) revised its planned new seasonal offering from Vigo, which will now serve Paris CDG rather than Brussels on 07 July 2016. Operating as Iberia Regional (Spain), this route will be served with CRJ900 aircraft.

First flight received a water salute. I have no picture of it, but it might pop up somewhere on the net.
