Emirates is seeking to cancel five of its last eight A380 deliveries, with Airbus pushing back because the planes are already in assembly. Emirates plans to take three more of A380s by March 2021. Any cancellations may result in a penalty of US$70 million per plane.
Lufthansa withdrew an additional A380, which is based in Frankfurt. Future A380 operations will be out of Munich only, and will consist of seven superjumbos.
