And LOT did it. They announced today that they will fly to Tashkent, Uzbekistan, with their B787.
After doing the examination before starting up the route, it seems that it will generate a lot, the majority, of transfer pax.
This is what I wrote a few weeks/month ago that Air Belgium should look at those destinations. There are still unserved markets with huge potential

Air Canada decided to stop flying to Warsaw. As reaction on this news, LOT decide to increase the number of direct flights to Canada.
In general there is something with AC and West jet. Both decided to fly much less to even cancelling routes to Europe this Summer

Even Air Transat is starting later in Brussels, June or July instead of May.

US Washington federal judge has trimmed a suit by LOT Polish Airlines alleging that B737 MAX conspiracy cost it hundreds of millions of dollars in losses, saying the airline hasn’t established that Boeing intentionally interfered with its business.

Re: LOT Polish Airlines / PLL LOT news thread
I place it in this topic as we don't have the specific one for Polish aviation in general.
But, lately we can see quite some articles of the site owner and a main member about the mega airport the Polish government wants to build between Warsaw and Lodz.
It's a pity that you only show the bright side of it, paid for it???, and not the other side. It would be really fair if you also could show and write about the almost daily protests against this airport.

CPK, such as Radom are public airports (PPL) and it is always easy to find press releases promoting what is positive.Atlantis wrote: ↑19 May 2023, 10:51 I place it in this topic as we don't have the specific one for Polish aviation in general.

As from October this year, LOT Polish Airlines will start charter flights to Brazil. The inflow in the economy is 7 million dollar. Confirmed by ITAKA.
SN where are you waiting for? Poland hasn't a big Brazil community, or in general a South America community.
Certain European markets, the East, are growing while others, West, are forced to scale down

Re: LOT Polish Airlines / PLL LOT news thread
I am afraid SN has to patiently and frustratingly wait for decisions (or no decisions) from LH. SN is getting everything drop by drop.
Re: LOT Polish Airlines / PLL LOT news thread
LH is making a historical mistake by handling SN as an unwanted child. The bought SN, so invest in it and let it grow. As LH owns it, it will have all the profit. It's not make sense to bring al the pax to FRA or MUC bcs LH don't owns those airports.
Shift the investment over the portfolio and the profit will be higher.
We can see that the same member of Star, LOT, is growing and they are in the backyard too of LH, even with a mega airport in the future.
Maybe a change on the very high top is needed here bcs as we can see, SN will stay where it was, Europe and Africa

You under estimate that Latin America had massive immigration waves in, 17h, 18th, 19th & 20th century, from Germany, Holland, Switzerland or Italy to name a few. And not from only former colonials powers (Spain and Portugal).Atlantis wrote: ↑31 Jul 2023, 11:30 As from October this year, LOT Polish Airlines will start charter flights to Brazil. It is estimated that there are around three million people of Polish descent in Brazil.
It is estimated that between 18 and 20 million people of Polish descent live in 80 countries around the world, with the largest diasporas found in the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom and Brazil.

And if there are more people from East or more generally from such countries in Asia per exemple, it's because they enjoy an economic growth and more people from middle class can travel and some countries in Latin America and Africa have understood this.
LOT Polish operates several charters flights in East and Southern Africa

Re: LOT Polish Airlines / PLL LOT news thread
SN is definitely not (anymore) the unwanted child as some frustrated people seems to claim for. SN is growing steadily year after year since covid and there are many plan in the pipeline. Indeed SN focus mainly on europe and Africa but Africa is the reason why Lufthansa bought it as the group was weak in this area. There is of course at BRU some opportunities to cover other area of the globe but in the other hand there is still so much to do in Africa, Lagos, Libreville, Brazaville, Pointe Noire, Bamako, add frequencies, "detriangularise" some destination etc etc. Why would SN take the risk to fly to Brazil if SN can fly to places where they are sure they can make money while Brazil is already served by other airline of the group? Me too I'd love to see SN flying all over the world, but is it really logical from an financial point of view? No. It only makes sense from a diplomatic point of view but as SN is not own by gouvernment, but own by private investor. The only aim of Brussels Airlines is too make profit, and if it make more profit in Lagos than in Sao Paulo, then yes SN would choose for Lagos. It's all about ressources and how you can make the best profit of it, I really can't understant how people don't get that?
Regarding other long haul airline of Belgium, we see Air Belgium in the deep sh!t since the beginning, even TUI Belgium cut half of the ops on long haul. Would those same frustrated people claim TUI Belgium as an unwanted member of the TUI group?

With the unwanted you know what I mean. We would like the best for SN which is obvious.crew1990 wrote: ↑31 Jul 2023, 19:43 SN is definitely not (anymore) the unwanted child as some frustrated people seems to claim for. Re: LOT Polish Airlines / PLL LOT news thread
It goes hard and fast for LOT. As from March 2024 they will fly 3 times a week to Riyadh and Saudi Airlines will fly 3 times a week from Jeddah
Re: LOT Polish Airlines / PLL LOT news thread
LOT extended the lease of the A330Neo of Air Belgium till the end of October 2024.
Re: LOT Polish Airlines / PLL LOT news thread
You can use the Goole translator for the below topic. But this only to show that the failed Polish PiS government is losing the new build Radom airport. This airport opened this year in Spring. LOT is transferring already the Rome flight back to Warsaw, others will follow.
The moderators of this webside are spreading, helping (bcs it's sponsored propaganda) by this failed government by spreading the propaganda of the new to be build mega airport between Warsaw and Lodz. An airport who is nobody waiting for. It's very good that the new elected opposition will keep this crazy project of this not needed airport to the light. It's even not sure anymore if this airport will be. What for sure is that the few appointed managers for the only on paper airport already received 66 million pln as wage.

The investment in Modlin would increase the number of passengers. We need hotels there, we want to develop a training center here. Unfortunately, the government is suspending all investments and redirecting billions of zlotys to the Central Communication Port and the castle in the sand, i.e. the airport in Radom."
"You have already mentioned CPK. What do you think about this project?
I think this is a crazy plan. We are returning to old-fashioned ideas of building great palaces between farmlands at a time when we can invest more wisely and sensibly in what is already working well. This is not a good solution for Ryanair or LOT. I don't see the point in closing Chopin Airport. It's a bit like what happened in Berlin. The airport in Brandenburg was opened 15 years later than planned, construction took three times longer than planned, and costs increased several times.
A big advantage of Warsaw is that it has two airports: Okęcie and Modlin. Chopin Airport is artificially limited by limits invented for LOT's needs, i.e. less than 20 million passengers, unless LOT asks for more slots, then they will probably find them. The airport in Modlin wants to compete with Chopin. Modlin did a phenomenal job. Despite the distance from the city center, 3 million passengers fly there every year."
The thing is that CPK is a stupid idea. Radom? Also stupid. LOT doesn't have a huge fleet. Maybe indeed Warsaw needs a new airport but there is also the one of Modlin which could be extended ffs, there is enough space in the countryside around Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki. I mean : Istanbul might be a good choice to have a new airport (which opened a few years ago) but because Turkish Airlines has the fleet for this. Berlin was built and then meanwhile Air Berlin died. Airport nearly empty. CPK is only megalomania. Even being half Polish, the country is far from being the center of the world. Another solution would be the current AFB of Minsk Mazowiecki, East of Warsaw.
The fact that Av24 is getting sponsored to spread such PiS propaganda (they should be out of the executive in Poland for some time now) is really disappointing. In a way, CPK doesn't know how to promote this gigantic project and secondly Av24 is promoting it and the fact that it is "verified" before publishing is not really honest.

Re: LOT Polish Airlines / PLL LOT news thread
MOL will have a problem.
Poland is building a strong hub airport for LOT and there will be little incentives for his type of airline.
He likes only "lost places" where he is getting subsidies to put a "nowhere" on the map or speculates on local pride.
