Delta 767 @ BRU not flying thanks to cone.

Post by JetB »

Delta Airlines Boeing 767 with engine problems today 25/08 @ BRU.

Handling agent BGS didn't remove a cone, after starting the engine it was sucked up.

Result, flight delayed and passengers moved to the Sheraton Hotel.

Who has more news ?

19:50 AC is still standing @ BRU

Memo to BGS and Aviapartner crew :

Who is fixing the AC, Delta technics ?.

And who is paying for the costs? Delta or BGS or BIAC?

Delta has its own engineers in BRU. It is possible they will get some help from engineers flown over from the States for this repair.

Delta is also in charge of SQC maintenance (and soon CO)

Does someone know where the plane is currently standing ?

If I go to the airport this evening I might see it then.

Yeah, I have the same question; who pays this bill? I mean, a cone that was left there could be the fault of AP or BGS. Or does BIAC pay because it happened on 'their' airport? Or another possible payer?

The insurance company of the handler. Maybe the bill will be for Delta, don't a pilot need to control his aircraft before starting the engines?

The ramp handling team leader has to inspect the area before the AC is parked there.

So in my opinion its the handling company's problem, BGS crew did not spot a cone that was left behind.

It happened while the plane was coming in to the stand. So this is the faulth of the Red Cap of BGS and also the faulth of the Red cap of the previous flight, maybe that was also BGS or Avia. But this is also the pilots responsability. He is supposed to look if the way is clear to go to the gate. So determining who is responsable is really hard. I'm also curious who pays this bill. But I'm shure either party has an insurance for these kind of cases.

You see how a stupid error can cause many problems to a lot of people and can cost a lot of money to a company. So people, please always keep your head while working! This is for everybody, even me!!
