All White DC-8 Brussels Sunday 26 Sep 04

Post by Jaysar »

Hi

Can anyone tell me what the all white DC-8 was at Brussels Sunday evening parked next to the Gemini Air Cargo MD-11F N705GC, please? I read it as TF-ELU but that appears to be an A300 unless it has been very recently re-registered.

Many thanks

Steve

Hi Jaysar,

Probably it will be 9G-MKH. That's an all white DC-8 from MK Airlines who are operating some cargo flights into BRU on behalf of Hewa Bora.

See http://www.planepictures.net/netshow.php?id=253830

Regards, Robin Bamps.

Hi Robin

Thanks, but it looked like a DC-8-73 to me, ie long fuselage, unlike 9G-MKH.

I'm thinking the same like Robin, MK-Airlines

Hi Jaysar,

It has to be a DHL aircraft then, but as far as I know they don't operate all white DC-8-73's (either in the old or in the new (yellow) colourscheme).

I'm sorry that I can't give you a clear answer.

Regards, Robin Bamps.

No ALX/MKA cargo flights on Sunday/Monday (parked @ Brucargo!) so you probable gave answer to your question: it must have been the all white A300 of Islandsflug which is mostly seen parked on the DHL platform on weekends.

Hi

Well, I may have got the registration wrong, but I was with a colleague and we both were surprised to see a DC-8. It was defintiely TF-E?? and we both thought the last two were "LU", but could have been mistaken as the letters were slightly hidden.

I shall keep searching for an answer!

Let's look at various possibilities:

TF-ELW Islandsflug Cargo A300-600F (orange tail and engine cowls)
TF-ELE Islandsflug Cargo A310-300F (orange tail and engine cowls)
TF-ELG Islandsflug Cargo A300-600F leased to Air Hong Kong (all white)
TF-ELB Islandsflug Cargo A300-600F (all white, formerly old DHL colours)
TF-ELU Islandsflug Cargo A300-600F (all white)
TF-ELS Islandsflug Cargo A310-300F (orange tail and engine cowls, formerly TMA Cargo)
TF-ELE Islandsflug Cargo A310-300F (orange tail and engine cowls)

Make a pick!

The other TF-EL* are Boeing 737s, an ATR and a Do228.

If he has clearly seen TF-ELU, it must have been that one.

There aren't any DC-8's in the TF-register currently.

Hi

Well it appears that I and my colleague both need glasses (well, he needs new ones) and we also need to learn to count the number of engines on aircraft! I have received an e-mail from someone who works at DHL Ops and he has confirmed that TF-ELU was the machine and it is STILL an A300F of Islandsflug.

I know it was dusk, but I really think I need to find an opticians and get my eyes checked! 8O

Thanks to all of you for your answers, and apologies for the mis-identification.
