A Garuda Indonesia plane landed safely on Monday after the co-pilot took over the aircraft following the collapse of the pilot, who died shortly after the landing, the official news agency Antara reported.
The pilot collapsed 10 minutes after the Boeing 737-500, en route to Jakarta, took off from Pontianak, the provincial capital of West Kalimantan on Borneo island.
The co-pilot returned to Pontianak and the pilot's collapse and death had yet to be determined, Antara reported.
Officials at Garuda Indonesia were not available for immediate comment on the report.

The F/O should be lauded
Imagine the aircraft statistics and the immense danger it posed to both the people on board and the land below.
The F/O has done a great job and we are sure that most of the F/O are already being praised for their alertness.
And yes for the departed soul, he left the world in the hands of an able mate.

Why was this situation dangerous ?? There are two pilots on board and if one has a medical problem there is always the second one who can land the plane. So I don't see why the poeple on board should have ben in any danger ?Advisor wrote:Imagine the aircraft statistics and the immense danger it posed to both the people on board and the land below.
