Less profit for Virgin Express

Virgin Express heeft in het tweede kwartaal een nettowinst geboekt van 117.000 euro. Dat is 96 procent minder dan in dezelfde periode vorig jaar. Wel vervoerde Virgin Express elf procent meer passagiers, terwijl de bezettingsgraad steeg van 79,2 procent vorig jaar naar 83,3 procent dit jaar

Virgin express hase made a profit of 117.000 € in the second quarter
of this year. That's 96% less then the same period last year.
VEX has 11 % more passengers.

That a profit-minded company like VEX is drop^ping so low in profits is significative of recent trends in the European airline industry. Everyone is starting to imitate the low-cost no-frill carriers like easyJet and Ryanair (even SWISS!), but without having the necessary structure to do so.

VEX is in no way a low-cost no-frill carrier and should try to keep its distinct character.
