crash in Tripolis ?
Have just heard about a crash upon approach (?) in Tripolis, Libya. According to the rumours aircraft came from South Africa? Seem to be many casualties. But no detailed information. Anybody with some more information / confirmation?

Re: Crash in Libya.
An eight-year-old Dutch boy was the sole survivor of an Afriqiyah plane crash at Tripoli airport which the airline said killed more than 100 people on Wednesday, an airport official said.
Re: Crash in Libya.
If RWY 09 (THR Elev 262') was in use(?) the 'only' straight in IAP is a 2 Locator (TW an D).

Re: Crash in Tripolis, Libya => Airbus A330 of Afriqiyah Air
I received just yesterday an advertising from Airstop
http://www.airstop.be
to fly with Afriqiyah to Johannesburg for 368 euro.
I was immediately arranging a quick meeting at J'Burg and Cape Town .
Maybe I better stay at my desk and do it by phone and email for the time being.
You can call me whatever you want but normally I was on that plane next week...This crash came too close to me.

Re: Crash in Tripolis, Libya => Airbus A330 of Afriqiyah Air
VRT radio 1 just reported that the plane was supposed to continue its flight to London & BRU after a stop in Tripoli (don(t know if this is correct, i never saw an Afriqiyah 330 at BRU). It is assumed that Belgians were aboard....
Re: Crash in Tripolis, Libya => Airbus A330 of Afriqiyah Air
the VRT news website now reports that no Belgians were aboard, but that 62 of the pax onboard the ill-fated 330 were supposed to continue on to BRU...
Re: Crash in Tripolis, Libya => Airbus A330 of Afriqiyah Air
BBC reported it would go to London Gatwick, no stop in BRU was foreseen.YYZ727 wrote:VRT radio 1 just reported that the plane was supposed to continue its flight to London & BRU after a stop in Tripoli (don(t know if this is correct, i never saw an Afriqiyah 330 at BRU). Re: Crash in Tripolis, Libya => Airbus A330 of Afriqiyah Air
Very sad !
@ YYZ727 : Afriqiyah already deployed twice one of their A330 to BRU. The first time, a Monday in November (if I remember correctly) and the second time 2-3 weeks ago.
Is the registration of the A330 already known ?
