B707 at Brussels

Post by OO-VEX »

Today i saw a B707 taking off from 25R at 20:20.
The main colour of the aircraft was white, but i think it had also some small blue :?: lines.
Who knows more?
Was it a military plane or a cargo? Was it visiting Sabena Technics?

There is, this afternoon (14.00), a 707/KC-135 parked at Melsbroek next to where the A310's park. Could not identify it as I was overtaking at the time!

Maybe this was the aircraft you saw? In any event does anyone know the identity of this aircraft - definately not Spanish AF as was grey overall - as far as I could see.

Thanks for the replies!

I think i saw the Spanish AF taking off yesterday.
It was definitely not the 707/KC-135 of today as i saw this plane taking off at 16:05, this one was grey and the 707 of yesterday wasn't.

Maybe that the grey one is the plane from the NATO/OTAN. I once saw it departing on 25R coming from Sbena technics..

I just saw this on planpictures.nethere

So apparently the spanishairforce has a B707/KC-135, it's maybe that one that you saw Meerkat.

Hello again,

Must have been a VIP/military plane from the USA/USAF.
I saw such four engined "white thing" landing 25R on evening of May 5.

Chris,

It is possible that you saw a 707 at Sabena Technics, Sabena Technics is one of the maintenance suppliers to the NATO’s 707’s.

I don't know if they are all, but some (or at least one) of the NATO's 707's are/is ex-Sabena aircrafts.

Chris,

There where 3 ex Sabena 707s with NATO.

Currently one NATO B707 LX-N20199, ex Sabena OO-SJN, is alive.

The other one LX-N20198, ex OO-SJM, was retired in March 2000 and possibly broken up @ Napels later on.
And the third one LX-N19996, ex OO-SJL, was retired in March 1998 & broken up December 1998 also @ Napels.

But ofcourse also non ex-Sabena 707's of NATO come to SN technics for maintenance.
