IMHO, a very strange choice of route: I occasionally fly to LHR, but just as almost all my fellow passengers, I only do so to take a connecting flight with STAR. I suppose the British flights between LHR and BRU are getting their passengers too from connections?

As a matter of fact: is there anybody still flying to get to greater London these days?
Eurostar is so much faster when you need to go to the city and Gatwick is in the middle of nowhere!

The only reason I can see to take this flight is if you have to get on another flight there, but does easyjet offer connections or codeshares with any body at Gatwick?

Eurostar's not always the most convenient.. trip is 2 hours from BRU Z. one needs to be at the station 30 min in
advance.. add to that (local Belgian train) if one is coming from out of BRU.. sometimes one ends up spending about
2 hours between train to BRU and check in, passport control security etc.. trip can easily take up to 4 hours ..
AND prices are often EXPENSIVE (above 200 EUR)..
Cityjet is the best option from Antwerp.. I guess that for EUR 70 return on Easy Jet, they can fill the
double daily..keep in mind the flight time is about 35-40 min..

Sure, flight time is just 40min, but don't forget about all time lost on the ground prior to the departure: on top of that, it's not like you step out from the terminal in Gatwick straight into the city: driving time to London is well over one hour, so believe me, you won't win much flying to London over taking the train: with much more choice and flexibility on the schedule, I'll just stick to the train.

In fact: flying on such sort flights where there's a non stop hi speed rail link available should be severely (Eco)taxed, but that's just my opinion of course.

EasyJet has dozens of daily flights from Amsterdam to Luton, Gatwick, Stansted and Southend (funny to see at the H pier with 3-4 easyJet flights departing to London close after eachother, especially in the morning and the evening, besides all the other BA flights (LHR and LGW) and KL flights (LHR)). This is something I can understand as the Amsterdam-London market is simply a huge market with no really convenient alternative by train. Earlier this year I flew with easyJet from AMS to Luton for a price and shedule that Eurostar through Belgium couldn't beat. BUT that's from Amsterdam...Belgium is quite a different story with much better train connections by Eurostar. British Airways and SN mainly survive on transfer traffic and some business traffic, but easyJet will not be able to rely on that, it will be just OD for them. So this route is kind of a suprise to me, but maybe a good moment to book a short BRU-LGW trip

Don't forget that Ryanair tried Gatwick-CRL and abandoned after a few years, if not months.

I don't remember Ryanair flying to Gatwick from Charleroi, but there were flights to Stansted until at least early 2008 - my last CRL-STN was end of february 2008.
After that, yes Lex, one had to go take a Ryanair flight to Stansted at Eindhoven, which is a bit far away (for me).
Thus, the easyJet flights to Gatwick are welcome - for who amongst the AvGeeks would go to London by train unless utterly impossible to do otherwise ?
(the cheapest flights, as of this moment, are priced at 42,83 euros for BRU-LGW and 46,38 euros for LGW-BRU - not far from 90 euros for the return trip ...)
IF IT AIN'T BOEING, I'M NOT GOING.

When I was based in LGW before i use to fly quite often with Easyjet between LGW and LUX because as I had to book in last minute and i was usually cheaper to fly Easyjet. I was using SN too for "patriotism reason" and because it was not so expensive however LHR to me a real nightmare!

For the people who say that LGW is in nowhere, even if it's partialy true, it's actually easier to go with the train (witch take only 30 minute) than the overcrowded tube with your suitcase to go to victoria, and I speak about experience ;-)

I wish good luck to Easyjet even if I'm not that happy to see a new concurent on a route where SN had the monopol and was so making money.

Rumors in Greek aviation forums that Aegean will start new flights out of Thessaloniki. They will be summer seasonal flights at first but some could become year round: Brussels together with Berlin and Kiev are expected to start for summer 2014.

Vueling opening a base, Easyjet opening 3 new routes, Ryanair having some plan for BRU and now Emirates asking for slots... Now, I'm really starting to be scared for SN! :-(

Because if you compare BRU with surrounding airports (AMS,CDG,LGW,LHR,FRA) it's a barren wasteland with a very small catchment area for Emirates.

Nice to see the biggest of the 3 gulf region airlines set out for BRU!
It has always been a matter of WHEN, rather than IF.
Don't know how well the other 2 are going to digest this, especially given they go straight for the B777!
I'd expected them to step in 'small' with an A330 or something like that, but it seems they want to go after the other 2 right away. Let's hope they can all stay.
Btw- isn't ethiad serving BRU 2 twice daily, or about to?
