This is Good News.
A Premium Airline.
This is wath BRU needs: more Top airlines,
instead of LCC's who all fly to same destinations, meanwhile killing each other with crazy prices.
Hopefully now more UA destinations, return of AA, some LATAM destinations (to Brazil, Colombia,Peru..), Mexico-city (now KL takes it all) (higher frequencies of Hainan destinations, India connection,.. more QR frequencies and why not a QR connection to Houston,..
Quality Airlines welcome.
Pier A West extension : just do it.

Not to trash the party, I'm extremely happy to see SQ return to BRU, but I am not sure the local market can support EK, EY, QR, TK and on top of that CX, SQ and TG. I'll exclude China and Japan carriers and just mention the likes of FI & SU who are also tending on that hub & spoke model towards that region of the world.
I'm certainly looking forward to renew adding to my 24 segments, 67818 miles clocked with SQ!
Some data for the younger ones browsing the forum:
2003: SQ328/327 SIN-BRU-MAN
2000: SQ334/333 SIN-CDG-BRU
2000: SQ346/345 SIN-ZRH-BRU

Re: BRU Winter 2020-2021: news, new routes, airlines
And during the eighties and more specifically on my mind in 1983, BRU -SIN by SQ once a week with a Boeing 747-200 on sundays, morning arrival, evening departure. It was a SIN - BRU - LHR and LHR - BRU - SIN flight.BrightCedars wrote: ↑16 Dec 2019, 16:51

Welcome back SQ after long talks to prepare it.
Very good news for BRU, SN, and the * Alliance hub. Also with AC new flights and timetables to bot YUL and YYZ.
And SN switching YYZ for YUL, seasonal or maybe yearround.
Yes, more premium Airlines are needed.
Cheers
Re: BRU Winter 2020-2021: news, new routes, airlines
I remember the time we use to see two 747-400 simultaneously at BRU this was very impressive then I flew them to JFK in that period.
Hasta la victoria siempre.
Re: BRU Winter 2020-2021: news, new routes, airlines
EK, EY, QR and TG are all in the top-10 of busiest international routes from BRU.BrightCedars wrote: ↑16 Dec 2019, 16:51 Not to trash the party, I'm extremely happy to see SQ return to BRU, but I am not sure the local market can support EK, EY, QR, TK and on top of that CX, SQ and TG. Currently the BRU-SIN market has about 40.000 annual passengers, I assume a majority of them fly through one of the ME3. As statistics point out, DXB (343k), DOH (172k) and AUH (154k) are amongst the busiest routes from BRU and all of them can manage some losses between BRU and SE-Asia...
If you consider there are pax that fly trough AMS, direct or via KLM, or FRA, CDG or LHR the loss for airlines currently offering connections from BRU to SE-Asia is not that much of an issue.

Best airline in the world, imho. The only one that comes close is Cathay Pacific.
Re: BRU Winter 2020-2021: news, new routes, airlines
Maybe a bit of topic now, but CX seems to be very pleased at/with BRU.
And I can only confirm that CX is probably the closest to SQ regarding service. Used to fly them very often 10- 15 years ago. Always superb as well in C as in Y class.

How can it be 772ER as they will be already flying the 78X from March 2020 on this route?SabenaForever wrote: ↑16 Dec 2019, 22:35 UA972/973

They are now flying the 777. As of March 2020, they will send the 78X instead of the 777.TLspotting wrote: ↑16 Dec 2019, 22:40How can it be 772ER as they will be already flying the 78X from March 2020 on this route?SabenaForever wrote: ↑16 Dec 2019, 22:35 UA972/973

Re: BRU Winter 2020-2021: news, new routes, airlines
Yes but it doesn't replace the 777-200ER as the 78X is first from end March, and as the route is currently operated by Boeing 767-300ER...

I think the 777 was originally planned for winter 2020-2021. So the 787-900 is replacing the typeTLspotting wrote: ↑16 Dec 2019, 22:40How can it be 772ER as they will be already flying the 78X from March 2020 on this route?SabenaForever wrote: ↑16 Dec 2019, 22:35 UA972/973

Re: BRU Winter 2020-2021: news, new routes, airlines
Hopefully the return of SQ to Brussels does not hurt TG too much.
As I travel alot between Vietnam and Belgium, the return of SQ is a nice alternative to Thai and Cathay but I am not sure if three airlines serving the same area (TG, CX and SQ) is sustainable in the long run.
