Georges Gilkinet, Ecolo (= the French speaking Left-Greens), is the new Belgian federal minister for Mobility (and also for state railway operator NMBS/SNCB).
His predecessor François Bellot (MR) failed to deliver a federal aviation law, thus damaging Brussels Airport. I'm afraid that the new minister will continue that path. We'll soon know, once Gilkinet presents his Beleidsnota / Note de politique.
New Belgian government: Department Mobility (and thus aviation) goes to Ecolo/Green Party

What already appears in the programme is that short-haul flights should more and more be replaced by high-speed trains. But this is likely to become the case in most of Europe, as already shown in Germany, France and The Netherlands, where the Greens are not in the Government.

And, importantly, Brussels Airport should be connected to the main cities in neighbouring countries by high-speed trains. Currently there are no more HSTs at Brussels Airport.sn26567 wrote: ↑01 Oct 2020, 10:13 What already appears in the programme is that short-haul flights should more and more be replaced by high-speed trains. Will short flights, like BRU-AMS, become forbidden?sn26567 wrote: ↑01 Oct 2020, 14:17And, importantly, Brussels Airport should be connected to the main cities in neighbouring countries by high-speed trains. Will positioning flights (OST->ANR of BRU->CRL) become forbidden?
And will minister Gilkinet finalize the Federal Aviation Law, needed to settle the Brussels Airport noise regulations?
