Well, the second option seems to be the correct one
According to internal sources, the new European destinations for 2024 should be Zurich and Rome...

And Brussels should appear in their timetable through a codeshare on LH/SN from (probably) Frankfurt.
We can make it the topic: BRU Winter 2024-2025: news, new routes, airlinesDarjeeling wrote: ↑05 Jan 2024, 17:12 THAÏ will come back in BRU in 2024 (I predict Q4), but no precise date is given yet as it's fleet availability depending. I think Atlantis knows it as well, but can't confirm I assume.
I'd bet on LATAM.Atlantis wrote: ↑05 Jan 2024, 17:44I can say even more, there is also another big one in the pipeline but they struggle for the moment with availability of aircrafts. Billund and Bordeaux are always on and off since many years. The other ones will be quickly picked up by or Transavia or Corendon, if already not in their portfolio. I'm thinking than of Corendon.Miqvell wrote: ↑05 Jan 2024, 17:50I'd bet on LATAM.Atlantis wrote: ↑05 Jan 2024, 17:44I can say even more, there is also another big one in the pipeline but they struggle for the moment with availability of aircrafts. Anyway, after Sharm el-Sheikh, Brindisi and Bordeaux, Billund is the next destination to be suspended by SN for the summer. So far they have added Krakow and Nairobi...
None of them are served by Corendon. If there was an airline to watch it would probably be Transavia, it has so much potential and has a stable network although with strong competition. Yet in 3 years they have never removed a single destination and they continue to grow.Atlantis wrote: ↑05 Jan 2024, 18:09Billund and Bordeaux are always on and off since many years. SN will add more frequencies as they will introduce 3 other new A320neo to the fleet. Some 319 will stay longer. They will have more capacity in 2024 than in 2023. This capacity has to be compensated with or new destinations or higher frequencies.
If I got the data correctly, BRU will end 2023 with a bit more than 22,0 million. So that would rather make 24,0 million in 2024, no?Atlantis wrote: ↑05 Jan 2024, 17:44
2024 and 2025 will be interesting to follow. For this year, the prediction (not only prediction, but already confirmed seats/reservations, is to have 2 million pax more than in 2023. 2024 should end up with >25 million pax. Majority has to come via long haul and new long haul flights.

But as said previously this will highly depend on external factors as well: what happens in Europe with the war, developments in Africa, in the US, etc. But that would of course also affect other airports ...
Let's hope for the best.
BTW: interesting overview to follow is this page, it will gradually be filled over the next couple of weeks: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_t ... urope#2023

2022, 2023 and 2024 had and will have the biggest growth. 2022 had almost 9 million pax more, 2023 had 4 million pax more and 2024 will be around the same.DannyVDB wrote: ↑07 Jan 2024, 09:18If I got the data correctly, BRU will end 2023 with a bit more than 22,0 million. Comparing with 2021 leads to nice figures, but is not very representative.Atlantis wrote: ↑07 Jan 2024, 12:08

2025 and 2026 will have each 1.4 million pax more.
But again, this is the traffic forecast based on the current reservations and increasing traffic at BRU. It can change due to external factors
Roughly about 4 million less pax in 2023 compared to 2019fcw wrote: ↑07 Jan 2024, 14:15Comparing with 2021 leads to nice figures, but is not very representative.Atlantis wrote: ↑07 Jan 2024, 12:08

Would you mind comparing 22,23, 24,… with 2019?
There is no sense to compare the current figures still with 2019. You always have to compare with your previous year. But ok, if you want, here it is:fcw wrote: ↑07 Jan 2024, 14:15Comparing with 2021 leads to nice figures, but is not very representative.Atlantis wrote: ↑07 Jan 2024, 12:08

Every airline, every airport in the world compares its figures with 2019. It’s the reference prior to covid (obviously). It makes much more sense than comparing with years impacted by travel restrictions.Atlantis wrote: ↑07 Jan 2024, 18:40There is no sense to compare the current figures still with 2019. 2021 vs 2019: 17 million pax less
2022 vs 2019: 7.4 million pax less
2023 vs 2019: 4.1 million pax less
Resumption of this route by Hainan has been confirmed by Minister Hadja Lahbib during work visit in China. Route will start in June. No further details. It's postponed, not cancelled. But those companies will also not forget it, it will not end by this. They will keep it in mind.
Second, BRU has to grow on their own strength. Airlines has to come here bcs they want, not as a second option. We have already a very nice portfolio of new ones for next year and some are in the pipeline.
Third, what happened in AMS is a clear sign for all those action groups around BRU who want the same for BRU as what was happening at AMS. Now they are faced that you cannot stop an industry like this. This is a blessing for BRU too bcs the new environment permit has to be requested as from next year. Action groups are now already active.
It's just a matter of time. Can be still announced this year. The Chinese carriers are the last couple of days extremely active in announcing new routes, also to Europe.
