The airline has just announced that they will fly to Luanda, from 01DEC2011, with B737-800, via Libreville. The route was supposed to open in 2009.

I think only TAAG can compete with internationals airlines...but it's quite easy for them, because they have code share agreements with some airlines serving LAD :mrgreen: . But isn't that the Abuja route, while Lagos was (is?) still operated with A345?
Yep but for a shortime, indeed one of two A340-500 will be in maintenance, so the airline will fly to London from Lagos with B737-800, from 31AUG 2011 to 31OCT 2011 according to Airline routes.

I think is due to the visit of the French prime minister Francois Fillon, last month. I heard that EADS wants to expands its activities in Africa. They have some contacts with DRC, Uganda and Rwanda.

I m not very surprised by the news, the Nigerian Civil Aviation has already grounded several times Arik Air for non payment. They canceled the order of 5 B777-300ERs, this year. They are often in mate for pay date.
